Ever since childhood (many a year ago) Kathy has collected Breyer
horses, any thing horse-related for that matter. If possible she
would have had her very own real horse. She received her first
set, the Classic Arabian Family one Christmas in the 70's. Since
then, one by one, the collection built. Shortly after that Kathy's
mom gave her a subscription to the JAH (Just About Horses) magazine,
when it was just beginning in small booklet form. Inside the pages
of that booklet were articles and how-to's in the fine art of
remodeling, repainting, and hairing. As you can imagine, the artist
in Kathy just couldn't wait to try everything, unfortunately with
disastrous results. To her mother's horror, many a model horse
went lame in those years, and some had to be put to rest. Being
frustrated by those early attempts, Kathy focused on her 2-D artwork,
and there remained until just recently.
With
the fire of collecting model horses renewed by her own daughters,
Kathy has revisited the remodeling and repainting scene. This
time with more art skills and information about the model horse
hobby from many books, internet web pages, and eGroups virtually
at her fingertips, Kathy's second attempt has been far more successful.
Kathy still dreams of owning a real horse someday, but for now
remains a dream.
Currently
Kathy is focusing on repainting models. She is a member of the
Realistic Equine Sculpture
Society and with every creation strives ever closer to exacting
detail that makes her model horses fantastically realistic.
In
the gallery on this web site you will see some of her works. Kathy
is selling her work on eBay
and the ModelXchange
(user id kjoriginals) and she also books
customs. So check out these links, or email Kathy directly
if you'd like to purchase a creation from her.
